A smarter, more efficient and automated production process
The need arose from the desire to organize steel pre-processing in a smarter and more efficient way. For the production of steel balcony railings, a solution was needed that could process both profile and sheet materials accurately and reliably. The challenge lay not only in capacity, but also in the quality of the end result.
Because the work is often visible, cutouts and contours had to be cut cleanly, without unwanted deformation or marks on the other side of the profile. The requirement therefore involved much more than just laser cutting: it required a stable, accurate, and well-integrated production process.

A solution tailored to the product, process and future
Van Dulst first took a comprehensive look at the entire process. Together with Trahecon, they determined which configuration best suited the products, capacity requirements, and desired flexibility.
For steel processing, the choice fell on a combination of the Gweike GKS6024T2 tube laser and the Gweike LF3015GA sheet laser. Thanks to the high positioning accuracy and repeatability, this provided Trahecon with a solution that allows both tubes and sheet material to be pre-processed efficiently and accurately.
The machines fit well into a modern production environment where speed, repeatability, and software integration are key.

Our approach
The process began with an analysis of the products, machining operations, and desired capacity. Van Dulst contributed not only its expertise in machinery but also its experience in profile machining, process design, and automation.
At an early stage, overall investment, achievable capacities, and possible scenarios were discussed. Based on this, Van Dulst worked with Trahecon to determine which machine configuration best suited the steel pre-processing operations in Poland. This led to a targeted selection of Gweike sheet and profile lasers, supplied and supported by Van Dulst.
In doing so, Van Dulst underscores its role as a partner that not only supplies machines but also assists in making the right technical and economic decisions.
Why Gweike was a good fit for their needs
The decision to choose Gweike was a good fit for Trahecon’s needs. The latest generation of fiber sheet and profile lasers combines high speed with precision, thanks in part to the use of multiple controlled axes and fast-responding servo drives. This allows complex shapes and cutouts to be cut with precision, with minimal heat input and without unwanted distortion or cut edges.
This was particularly relevant in this case, as the work is often visible. When cutting cutouts in tubes, the opposite side must not show any marks or distortion. It is precisely here that the machine’s accuracy and the fine-tuning of the process come together.
In terms of software, the machines also integrate well into a modern production environment. With systems such as CypCut, CypNest, and TubeT, drawings are processed quickly and optimally nested, resulting in less material waste and a more efficient production process. Additionally, the technology offers a high degree of flexibility, making it easy to produce different product variants.
Finally, Gweike’s reliability and scale also played a role. Thanks to its large production capacity, international presence, and strong service network, Gweike represents a solid and future-proof choice. Van Dulst’s guidance reinforced that confidence throughout the entire process.
From selection and acceptance testing to installation and training
Van Dulst guided Trahecon through the entire process, from selection to implementation. Together, they conducted the acceptance testing of the machine in China, involving both management and operators. This provided early insight into the technology and allowed knowledge to be built up immediately.
That involvement fostered a sense of ownership within the organization even before on-site installation began. This increases acceptance of the machines in practice and significantly shortens the learning curve.
The installation was also deliberately carried out in phases. First the tube laser, followed by the sheet metal laser. This created additional points of contact, allowing practical experience to be directly translated into targeted support and optimization.
The result on the shop floor
In practice, this approach means that Trahecon’s steel pre-processing operations are organized much more efficiently. Cutting processes run faster, more consistently, and with a high degree of accuracy. As a result, fewer corrections and rework are needed, and quality remains high even for visible work.
In addition, the combination of automatic loading, smart software, and flexible material handling ensures a smoother production process with less downtime and less material waste. At the same time, production is better prepared for product variation and future growth.
The result is a modern laser production environment with greater capacity, greater control, and a reliable foundation for further development.
